Reserve officer training corps outstanding cadet medaL

Each year our chapter awards the Silver Outstanding Cadet Medal and certificate to one Reserve Officer Training Corps cadet in each of the units listed below. Cadets are nominated by their unit’s military cadre for superior leadership qualities, military bearing, and excellence in volunteer service that exemplifies the high ideals and principles which motivated and sustained our patriot ancestors.

• North Carolina State University, Navy ROTC
• North Carolina State University, Air Force ROTC
• North Carolina State University, Navy ROTC, USMC Option

We also recognize graduating ROTC cadets  who volunteered to participate in unit color guards throughout their cadet careers with the Flag Certificate. Each years we also present current Color Guard commanders with the Taunton Flag Challenge Coin to recognize their service. The Taunton Flag was the first flag raised by American colonists in dissent to the colonial policies of the British government.
