Our Veterans Program Partnerships

As descendants of America’s very first veterans, our chapter makes a special effort to support veterans and veterans’ causes. We recognize our own members who are veterans with Service Medals. Our chapter also works with registered non-profit veteran support organizations to provide additional needed assistance. We currently support the Veterans Life Center in Butner, NC and the Veteran Smiles Foundation.

The Raleigh Chapter of the SAR supports the Veterans Life Center in Butner, NC through fundraising activities and clothing drives. The VLC works to prevent veterans from experiencing homelessness, incarceration, suicide, and premature death. It helps 21st century veterans experiencing difficulties reintegrating into civilian life.

Our chapter provides donations and support to the Veterans Smiles Foundation (VSF). VSF is a non-profit organization headquartered in Wake Forest, North Carolina which provides educational and financial support to at-risk veterans to improve their dental and oral healthcare. Most of these veterans do not qualify for free care at Veterans Affairs hospitals and clinics and cannot afford dental care on their own. VSF’s year-round program provides dental services to eligible veterans including an oral exam and X-rays, routine checkups, annual cleanings, and minor and major dental work. VSF provides financial support when the veteran enrolls in the program. Vet Smiles partners with the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, NC Serves, and Veteran Service Officers throughout the state. Eastern Carolina’s School of Dental Medicine has eight satellite dental clinics located around the state in rural and under-served areas including Brunswick, Robeson, and Davidson Counties, as well as the communities of Elizabeth City, Ahoskie, Lillington, Spruce Pine, and Sylva.
